Brunch at the Cafe Savoy in Prague … bonjour and dobry den! I think you have the best of both worlds, Paris and Prague.
Characterized by a definite Parisian influence in decor, cuisine, ambiance, and people-watching, the Cafe Savoy also offers the friendly service, generous portions and local ingredients all of which tend to characterize Prague’s restaurants. Dating from the 19th century, Cafe Savoy has been magnificently restored and features high, ornately decorated ceilings with seating on the balcony as well as on the main floor.
The lower level showcases a state-of-the-art patisserie and an impressive cave stocked with the Savoy’s international wine collection.
As you enjoy the Paris-in-Prague ambiance, don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of a movie star or celebrity or two!
I can recommend without hesitation much of the food we sampled, and we made an effort -which was a true gastronomic pleasure – to sample an assortment from the extensive Cafe Savoy menu.
The Gruyere Omelette, prepared with farm-fresh eggs, gruyere, and a generous amount of butter, was absolutely memorable, comparing favorably with the omelettes offered by La Mere Poulard, the home of omelettes in France situated at the base of the Mont St-Michel.
The Fruit Salad was made to order of perfectly ripened fresh fruit.

Cafe Savoy in Prague – the Savoy fresh fruit salad, Morgentau green Sencha tea enriched with mango oil, rose flowers, cornflowers and sunflowers
Freshly baked from the Savoy’s Patisserie, the Croissants were light, flaky and impressive in size, and the Bread Basket offered an appetizing assortment including lightly toasted, thickly-sliced country style white bread, French baguette, and my personal favorite – country rye with sunflowers seeds. To accompany the breads were farm fresh sweet butter and generous amounts of house-made apricot and strawberry Preserves … exuding the flavor of the fresh fruit … simply delicious!
Not be missed is the Savoy Cafe au Lait served in a huge breakfast (“petit dejeuner”) style coffee cup, the freshly brewed Green Teas — from the Savoy’s huge assortment of green blends I selected the organic green Sencha enriched with mango oil, rose flowers, cornflowers and sunflowers from, – and if you are a dark chocolate-lover like me, do indulge in the Dessert Hot Chocolate Savoy, a hot chocolate “drink” referred to as “dessert” for good reason!
